What Is a Nonwoven Geotextile?
A geotextile is a permeable fabric placed in or on soil to separate, filter, drain, stabilise or protect. Needle-punched nonwoven geotextiles are made by mechanically entangling fibres with barbed needles, producing a thick, felt-like fabric that lets water pass through while holding soil particles back.
In civil engineering this balance of permeability and strength keeps construction layers apart and working as designed: aggregate stays clean, drainage paths stay open and the structure keeps its load-bearing capacity for longer. One fabric often performs several of these functions at once.
