Dry, Clean & Comfortable Protection

The Caretex ABSO Reusable Underpad is a washable incontinence bed pad from the Caretex reusable bedpads range, placed on the mattress, beneath the patient, to absorb bodily fluids — typically urine associated with bladder weakness or incontinence. It keeps the patient dry, clean and comfortable while protecting the skin and the bed underneath.

Specifically, highly technical yarns in the top layer transfer fluid to the layers below within a few minutes, so the surface stays dry. Once absorbed, the liquid is locked between the inner layers while a breathable PU membrane stops any strike-through to the mattress. Additionally, this fully laminated construction helps prevent decubitus (pressure) wounds.

Because it is fully reusable and machine washable at 90 °C, ABSO replaces disposable pads — lowering cost, waste and laundry handling. With six models and multiple sizes available, the range covers light to heavy incontinence. Furthermore, ABSO is manufactured in Türkiye from OEKO-TEX® certified, recycled material.

How the layers work

ABSO laminates four functional layers into one slim, flexible pad — and the flagship 5-layer ABSO adds an extra absorbent layer for heavy incontinence.

1Top layer — moisture-wicking knit moves fluid off the skin, dries in minutes
2Absorbent middle layer — wicks and holds fluid across the pad
3Waterproof & breathable PU membrane — blocks strike-through to the mattress
4Protective polyester lining — durable, low-friction backing that lies flat

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ABSO reusable underpad?

Essentially, ABSO is a washable, reusable incontinence bed pad placed on the mattress underneath the patient to absorb urine and other bodily fluids. As a result, it keeps the patient dry, clean and comfortable, protects the skin and the mattress, and replaces single-use disposable pads.

Is the ABSO underpad waterproof and breathable?

Yes. In fact, a breathable polyurethane (PU) membrane blocks any fluid strike-through to the mattress while still allowing air to pass, and the quick-dry top layer moves moisture away from the skin so the surface stays dry.

How is ABSO washed and how often can it be reused?

ABSO is fully reusable and machine washable at up to 90 °C, which allows hygienic thermal reprocessing. It is designed for repeated wash cycles, replacing hundreds of disposable pads over its life.

What sizes does the ABSO underpad come in?

Standard sizes are 60×90, 75×85, 85×90, 90×100 and 100×100 cm. Custom sizes and private-label options are available for OEM and volume orders.

Which ABSO model is best for heavy incontinence?

For heavy incontinence, the 5-layer ABSO offers the highest absorbency in the range. Meanwhile, the 4-layer ECO, ECO DESIGN, SLIDE and VINYL models cover medium needs, while BUDGET/MICRO suits lighter use. Winged (tuck-in flap) and handled versions are available across the range.

Is ABSO a certified medical device?

Yes. Indeed, ABSO is CE-compliant under EU MDR 2017/745 as a Class I medical device (Basic UDI-DI 8682550ABSO7C, EMDN T04010299). It is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, phthalate-free and made in Türkiye from recycled material under an ISO 13485 quality system.
