Coated Fabric for Coveralls That Keep Liquids Out

Duratex® is a PU-coated fabric for protective coveralls worn where liquid chemicals, rain and dirty water are part of the job. The polyurethane coating forms a closed barrier on the outside, while the polyamide (nylon) base gives the fabric high tensile strength and elongation.

In independent laboratory tests, coveralls made from Duratex® showed no leakage in the EN 14605 Type 3 jet and Type 4 spray tests and in the EN 13034 Type 6 spray test, and passed EN 343 protection against rain. The fabric reached Class 6 for abrasion, tear and puncture resistance under EN 14325.

The yellow and orange versions meet the colour requirements of EN ISO 20471; the navy blue version suits work where high visibility is not required. The coating withstands 90 °C industrial washing: after 5 wash-and-dry cycles shrinkage stays below 3% and hydrostatic resistance remains at least 0.2 bar.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Duratex® protective coverall fabric?

Duratex® is a 180 g/m² fabric made by Gentuğ Textile: a polyurethane coating on a polyamide (nylon) base. It is available in yellow (ARG 2044-2), orange (ARG 2047-2) and navy blue (ARG 2049) and is used for protective coveralls against liquid chemical splashes, spray and rain.

Which standards has it been tested to?

Coveralls made from the fabric passed EN 14605 Type 3 and Type 4 tests, showed no leakage in the EN 13034 Type 6 spray test, and passed EN 343 (rain) and EN ISO 13688 (general requirements). Fabric properties were classified under EN 14325, including Class 6 for abrasion, tear and puncture. The fabric is also certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, Product Class I.

Is the fabric breathable?

Duratex® is a closed PU-coated barrier fabric. Under EN 343 its water vapour resistance is Class 1, so in warm conditions the recommended continuous wearing time is limited (for example 60 minutes at 25 °C). For long wear in heat, plan breaks or a ventilated garment design.

Is it flame retardant?

No. Duratex® is not a flame-retardant fabric. It meets ISO 14116 Index 1 (limited flame spread): it forms a hole but produces no flaming debris and the flame does not reach the edge. Index 1 garments must not be worn next to the skin where flame protection is required.

How is it washed?

The fabric withstands industrial washing at 90 °C: after 5 wash-and-dry cycles, shrinkage stays below 3% and the hydrostatic resistance remains at least 0.2 bar. Follow the care label of the finished garment.
