Weft insertion and stitch reinforcing technology that adds strength and stability to technical textiles.
Overview
Our weft insertion machine from Liba delivers technical textile solutions, especially for the automotive, healthcare and coated tape sectors.
Our stitch reinforcing machine from Karl Mayer adds much-needed extra vertical strength and stability to any type of fabric.

Applications
Connected Processes
Cotton, polyester, polyamide and blended knitted fabrics for a wide range of industries.
Advanced coating and lamination processes that extend the performance of our fabrics.
Quilting, raising, embroidery, slitting and belt cutting within one vertically integrated flow.
Overview
Weft insertion is a warp-knitting technique in which straight yarns are laid across the full width of the fabric and held in place by the knitted loops. Because these inserted yarns are not looped themselves, they carry load without stretching and give the fabric stability across its width.
Stitch reinforcing adds lines of stitching through a fabric to strengthen it lengthwise. Used together, the two processes produce textiles that keep their dimensions under tension – an important property when a fabric is later coated, laminated or cut into narrow widths. Running both steps in-house keeps the reinforced fabric within one controlled production flow.
Applications
Fabrics must hold their shape through coating, lamination and assembly into components.
Technical textiles need consistent, predictable behaviour from roll to roll.
A stable substrate resists stretching while it is coated and slit into tape.
FAQ
Weft insertion is carried out on a Liba machine and stitch reinforcing on a Karl Mayer machine at our Gerede Factory.
It is step 02 of the eight in-house processes at Gerede, following knitting and preceding warping. Coating, lamination and fabric preparation take place under the same roof.
It adds extra vertical strength and stability, and it can be applied to any type of fabric.
