A Reusable Gown Built Around Two Fabrics

The Precision Operation Gown is a reusable surgical gown that pairs two engineered fabrics. Its barrier zones, the front panel and lower sleeves, use a three-layer laminate of polyester microfibre, a breathable, heat-resistant polyurethane membrane and a polyester knit backing. The result is permanently liquid-proof while still letting body moisture escape as vapour.

The rest of the gown is woven polyester with a conductive carbon-yarn grid that dissipates static charge, keeping long operations free of static discomfort. Knit collar and high-temperature-resistant knit cuffs complete the gown.

Every component is chosen to survive industrial laundering and autoclave sterilisation at 134°C. The gown is produced at Gentuğ’s Gerede factory under an EN ISO 13485:2016 quality management system that covers the design and production of operating room gowns.

How Precision Breathes

Animation: water vapour passing through the Precision PU membrane fabric

Vapour Out, Liquids Kept Out

The polyurethane membrane in the barrier zones blocks liquids completely, yet lets water vapour from the body pass through and escape to the outside air.

✓Breathable: perspiration leaves as vapour, so heat and moisture do not build up under the gown during long operations.
✓Liquid-proof: blood and fluids cannot pass, with a hydrostatic head above 2,000 cm H₂O and no synthetic-blood penetration under ASTM F1670.
✓Heat resistant: the membrane withstands industrial washing and autoclave sterilisation at 134°C.

Tested Through 90 Reprocessing Cycles

To confirm reusability, the barrier laminate was put through 90 complete reprocessing cycles by Artea Srl (Italy), an ISO/IEC 17025 testing laboratory. Samples were checked every 10 cycles for tensile strength, thickness, layer adhesion, appearance and colour.

90Full reprocessing cycles
0Delamination between layers
ΔE 1.8Colour change after 90 cycles

Each cycle:

Wash at 60°CStep 1
Dry at 60°CStep 2
AutoclaveStep 3

The laboratory concluded that the material keeps its fitness for use and resists repeated use for at least 90 consecutive cycles. Seams stayed regular throughout and the layers could not be separated in peel testing (ASTM D903).

Frequently Asked Questions

How many times can the Precision gown be reused?

The barrier laminate was tested by an ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory through 90 complete reprocessing cycles (wash at 60°C, dry at 60°C, autoclave) with no delamination of the layers, and the laboratory concluded the material remains fit for use for at least 90 consecutive cycles. Actual service life depends on the laundry process and handling.

How is the gown made antistatic?

Conductive carbon yarn is woven into the fabric of the yoke, shoulders, back and hem in a fine grid. It dissipates static charge as it builds up, which removes the discomfort of static electricity during long operations.

Which parts of the gown are liquid-proof?

The front panel and the lower sleeves, the areas most exposed to blood and fluids, are made from a breathable PU-membrane tri-laminate. This laminate showed no synthetic-blood penetration under ASTM F1670 and passed AAMI PB70 Level 3 barrier testing.

How should the gown be washed and sterilised?

The gown can be industrially washed at up to 90°C and tumble dried, then sterilised by autoclave at 134°C. Do not bleach, iron or dry clean.

Which colours are available?

Precision is available in blue and green. For size ranges, logo application and volume orders, please contact our technical sales team.
